Da Lat: plan your visit
Ten practical guides to stays, famous places, flights, rail and car travel in Da Lat.
Choose your local base
The Xuan Huong Lake area suits visitors who value city walks and cafés. Hillside stays can offer a quieter setting, but steep access and vehicle pickup become more important.
Famous places and a sensible route
The lake is a relaxed city focus. The heritage railway station and a Trai Mat excursion are separate choices; the sightseeing train does not connect Da Lat to the national rail network.
Arrival and onward travel
Air gateway: Lien Khuong (DLI), subject to current operations, followed by road. Rail: No through mainline railway to Da Lat; the Da Lat–Trai Mat sightseeing train is not an intercity connection.
A sample plan
Keep arrival gentle around the lake. Reserve a second day for a countryside or Trai Mat outing and avoid adding several distant waterfalls to the same afternoon.
